About Us
Dorothée Aufranc
Likes: Raclette!!, volleyball, and tarteflete
Dislikes: Driving on the left side of the road
Dorothée is our intrepid French(wo)man, who, having braved the treacherous straights of the English channel is a seasoned adventurer. Indeed we believe as part of the legions of French people now living in England as foreigners, Dorothée will be invaluable to the team.
Interesting Fact:
Dorothée was the Under 18 Southeast France yodelling champion two years running. She was also the inspiration for the Ricola TV advertisement.
Jarett Contino
Likes: Keggling, smuggling peanuts
Dislikes: Waking up
Jarett hails from the mystical land of upstate New York in the United States of Americanada (and no he does not sound like Terrence and Philips!). Traversing the Atlantic Ocean was too easy so he's decided to join the team and cross deserts. His vast knowledge of camel herding and riding could come in handy through the deserts of Kazakhstan.
Interesting Fact:
Has a strange obsession with cheese and once ate (drank?) an entire bottle of ketchup in one sitting!
Dave Harris
Likes: Impersonating Ed
Dislikes: People using the Eurostar without thanking him
Dave is a man who doesn’t understand the meaning of impossible and laughs in the face of danger. He is a man with an incredibly small vocabulary. That is why he has chosen to go to Mongolia, the country with the least words in the world, where he plans to live out the rest of his days understanding what people are saying.
Interesting Fact:
Once ate a really big pie. I mean a REALLY big pie. I'm tellin ya, this thing was massive.
David Hughes Hallett
Likes: Garlic, Kate, garlic and garlic
Dislikes: Shears/scissors/razors and anything generally associated with hair cutting.
Steven Siegal, Jean Claude Van Damme, Christopher Columbus, André Agassi, and David Hughes Hallett; names that I am sure will conjure images into your mind, images of action, adventure, tennis but most of all, pony tails. For you see, DHH is a man who has an ‘adventure’ pony tail, this pony tail has lead him to the remotest corners of the world and will help lead us to Mongolia. Godspeed you beautiful pony tail.
Interesting Fact:
He believes in vampires and is hoping to see Count Dracula’s castle as we travel through Transylvania. Or better yet Count Chocula as we travel through Uzbekistan.
Kate Murphy
Likes: Cheese, wine and deaf cats
Dislikes: The odd night of karaoke
Kate has been nominated team chef (though she doesn't quite know it yet). She can cook one mean pot of chili, and it's this type of go-getter attitude that will make sure the team does not starve along the way. In fact, if recent trends continue, Kate's cooking might make Jarett end the trip as one of the few members of the Mongol Rally to gain over 20kgs along the way!
Interesting Fact:
When asked one time if she'd like 'some cheese with that whine' Kate misunderstood and said quite seriously 'bedda make it chedda!'
Ed Sidgwick
Likes: Mutton chops
Dislikes: High Shelves
Ed exudes explorer-ness, this is best seen in his ‘Artic Explorer’ beard. This beard inspires confidence in all the team as well as providing warmth for his face and a handy storage place for food. It is resourcefulness like this that we have come to look for in the 5ft tower of power.
Interesting Fact:
Once wore the same plaid shirt for a week straight to get in touch with his lumberjack side.
